BIO

Having studied under the legendary Jack Potter at The School of Visual Arts, New York in the 1950s, Elsie Kalan developed a classic commercial drawing style in pen and ink that produced a fluid line and strong composition. A perfect style for communicating department store fashion to an audience. One of Kalan’s principal clients was Saks Fifth Avenue, New York. Following retirement, Kalan became a watercolourist and a distinguished member of the Rhode Island Watercolour Society.
